The Friends of St Nicholas’ Church and Hogarth’s House together present a return of last year’s tremendously successful evening of music and words. We will be celebrating the extraordinary artists who lived and visited the Burlingtons’ Chiswick House, Hogarth’s House and Chiswick Riverside in the 1700s.
New instrumental music and songs from Italy, Scotland, Germany, France, England – all of it very much, London. All found its way to the fresh air, rivers and meadows that were an escape from the great city to the East.
We will also share new work inspired by this extraordinary place and its history: Malene Sheppard Skaerved’s poetry responds to the the gardens of Chiswick House and Hogarth’s House.
We are also joined by two London composers: David Hackbridge Johnson in dialogue with the statue of the Apollo Belvedere which stood in the Burlington’s cupola, and locally-based Mihailo Trandafilovski brings a chaconnne, the most famous musical form based on walking!
