This astonishing work, composed in 1952-3, has absolutely won us over in concerts in the UK and Sweden in the past couple of weeks. After the concert, Nicola LeFanu, one of our great composers, wrote to me ‘- the Dag Wiren is a superb quartet, what a discovery.’
