Giovanni Battista Vitali (1632-1692)-Toccata & Cappricio di Tromba (‘Partite sopra diverse Sonate’)

More from Preludes & Vollenteries 6 at St Mary Woolnoth. I was PLANNING to play GiovanniCappricio di Tromba to start the concert, but 1 minute after starting to play, glanced at the music in front of me for the first time, and realised that I was playing his Toccata from the same set of ‘Partite sopra diverse Sonate’. So in the spirit of Buzz Lightyear (Woody:’That’s not flying – that’s falling with style’), I brought the Toccata to a close and, erm, played the right piece (the one in front of me). Here’s the resulting pairing. Thanks to Colin Still for the recording.
