This violin is where it all started. I was twelve, and it was my first lesson with Ralph Holmes. Nothing could have prepared me for his playing-for the next five years is was a constant source or inspiration. It has taken me many years to understand what was being offered. Ralph’s musicianship was deeply wound up with this great violin. Together they offered, and continue to offer, a glimpse of the sublime.
