Another of Evis Sammoutis’s exquisite ‘Nicosia Etudes’ in the studio – with the manuscript – mercifully free of my scrawl! Follow along.
This etude was writtten to be played on Paganini’s Vuillaume violin, which lives alongside his ‘Cannone’ violin in the Palazzo Tursi in Genoa. I premiered and filmed it there in 2024.
The name, ‘????????’, refers to a sacred spring on the Acropolis in Ahtens. The etymology is fun – ????????? (klépt?/steal”) p;us ???? (húd?r/water” – so “water thief”.
