At the desk performance by Peter Sheppard Skaerved This work was written as a memorial to the great Australian violinist, conductor, leader and composer, Brenton Langbein(21 January 1928 – 6 June 1993). Henze dedicated his 2nd Concerto to Langbein, and this work was played at his funeral. It is played on an amazing viola made in London, in 1641, by Jacob Rayman. I am grateful to Ben Hebbert for the chance to use this wonderful instrument.
