Getting ready to record, there’s rehearsal, and practise, and the time with the instrument, in silence. When the music demands as much colour, timbre, detail and truth as Mihailo Trandafilovski’s, everything feels up close, the very fibre of the wood, patina and ground of the varnish, the hand of the maker, part of the process.
